30 Things to do Before I Turn 30

So if you have been reading my blog recently you would see that I am currently having an issue of what to do with my life next. In order to try and bring some order to my life and what I want to achieve I have made a list of 30 things to do before I turn 30.

I really enjoyed creating this list! It puts some things in to perspective for you and not only lets you see where you want to be but also what you have already done!

So below is my 30 before 30 list (with some little side notes for myself… encouragement if you will!!).

1. Swim with Sharks
2. Party in Ibiza (this year?!)
3. See the Northern Lights
4. Drink in a fancy Vineyard with good cheese and bread
5. Go (full) skinny dipping 
6. Visit 30 different countries
7. Bungee Jump/Sky dive
8. Get your motorbike licence (or have a couple shots on one!) 
9. Learn to shoot a gun (and well!) 
10. Climb a mountain
11. Travel somewhere all by yourself 
12. Camp somewhere beautiful 
13. Splurge on an item you can’t afford but will last for years (Rolex, Louboutin…) 
14. Take a cross-country road trip/big road trip
15. Take surf board lessons 
16. Attempt to learn an instrument 
17. Throw a fundraiser/volunteer for a charity close to your heart 
18. Live abroad 
19. Learn how to ski/snowboard!! (or at least take a couple of lessons!)
20. Spend New Years eve somewhere amazing (The Caribbean, Disneyland Paris….)
21. Learn about your family history 
22. Take as many “How To” “Beginner” classes as possible
23. Get (more) tattoos 
24. Read more Classic Books/History books  
25. See you favourite singer/band 
26. Be part of a TV audience 
27. See a Broadway/Westend show
28. Learn to fish 
29. Learn (the very basics) of a Language 
30. Do some form of run/challenge/marathon 

30.1…. You should probably do something that is more “Adult Life” too! Buy a house, find someone to settle down with… Get a pet!!!

So thats my list! Everything in bold is what I have done already but feel like are important and that I should continue doing or trying! Im currently 23 so have 7 years to get this down!!

Local Beauties 14

Scotland’s weather has been so up and down lately. It’s either scorching hot or we have massive thunder and lighting storms! 

The other day during a break in the weather, we went down to a place called Skateraw, around a 25minute drive from my house but only 15 from my boyfriends. It’s a place I use to always go with my papa but haven’t been in years. It’s a very small beach just beside the huge Torness Power Station. Although small, it has a beach, a very old harbour foundation, is incredibly popular with birdwatchers, is on part with the John Muir trail and has many other historic attributes. 

Personal, I love going here to watch the flying birds over the sea pools and climbing the rocks.

I also made a little Bunnie friend 😊🐰 poor wee guy ran across the road when we were coming in! Luckily my emergency stopping skills are very good! 🙈

Beautiful Bernera

I have been looking at old photos through my Facebook recently of the placesI have been lucky enough to see. I came across these photos of my families trip up North to the Isle of Lewis, where my dads side of the family is from. I still smile at my amazing memories from this weekend, we spent there in 2011 for my cousins wedding. For anyone who hasn’t attended a truly Scottish wedding – please do in your life time. But thats another story.

Bernera, where my family originate from, is just outside the better known Stornoway.

Most of my photos have family in them but I have picked a few so hopefully you can get a glimpse of how pretty the area is. So much rich nature and history, whilst having the most loving people ever populating its land. Also please note again that these photos are from 2011. My camera choice needed upgrading and my family appearances have defiantly changed over time!

5 Reasons Why Egypt Is Amazing

 

The first time I visited Egypt I was around 3 and a half and my sister was 6 weeks old. I am now 22 and my sister is 18 and we still visit the country as much as possible! Its almost like a second home for my family and I. After looking at some photos today I felt a little tug of miss for the country so thought I would write about some my favourite aspects of the country. There are of course so much more to the country than this little blog but nevertheless, I thought I would share my perspective!

 

The People

I feel like a lot of the people who visit countries like Egypt forget that they are technically visiting a third world country and as such of course you are going to be met by people trying to make a living. If this bothers you, personally I don’t think you should visit countries like this. However, if you look further than that you find people who are willing to go beyond the extra mile for you. My family and I are so extremely lucky that we have even been invited to dinners with families of the local areas we visit, all of whom are so unbelievable nice and genuine, and we keep in touch with and have revisited after many years of knowing each other. I truly cannot big them up enough!

 

The Culture

Egypt has such rich culture! From the food, art, perfume to the way the craft sculptures and items like jewellery and carpets.. the list is truly never ending. If you visit the country please, go into the old markets and where more of the locals go. Get away from the McDonalds!! This is where you will see the true, colourful country.

The History

I am not a history student but if I could study the Egyptian history I would! There are so many mystical places in Egypt such as the Valley of the Kings, the Pyramids & Sphinx, the Nile, Cairo which is drenched in past times, Luxor, and much, much more. The tour guides are so passionate you feel like you are taking a walk back in history. They’re also many workshops that still produce products back in the ancient way that are also fascinating such as perfume factorises, papyrus and alabaster.

The Scenery

No matter where you situated, I’ve found, you always have a phenomenal view. Be it of the mountains or the sea. It is truly a magically, beautiful place. On land and below. The scenery you find in the sea is next to no other! I have gown up snorkelling in Egypt (Ras Mohammed – one of my favourite places) and I have even been lucky enough, alongside my sister, to be joined by wild dolphins one year when we were in the water looking minding out own business– beyond magical!

The Climate

For anyone who is a bit of a sun bunny like myself, this is the crowning glory on a fantastic country! I’ve been many times throughout the year. Of course the summer months are the hottest time but in the likes of January I was still able to sunbathe at the beach! However if you decide to go in January, take a cardigan and a scarf, the wind is a lot cooler at night!

 

Hopefully, I have made you feel a tug towards the country and wanting to visit it. I truly adore Egypt! Ive shared a couple photos I’ve taken over the years, however the best photos I have are full of family members so I have left those ones out! I would love to know, to those of you who have been, what you loved about the country also!
